Tamarac, FL (PRWEB) December 12, 2005 -- Philanthropist and community volunteer Patti Lynn launched her campaign for a seat on the Tamarac City Commission last week at the Steak-n-Ale on Commercial Boulevard in Tamarac, FL. State Representative Ari Porth was in attendance along with Lauderdale-by-the-Sea City Commissioner John Yanni and former Oakland Park Mayor Caryl Stevens. Patti Lynn is endorsed by State Senator Nan Rich as well as State Representatives Ron Greenstein, Tim Ryan and Ari Porth.
Patti's record of service spans more than 30 years. In 1988, she was named a "Hidden Hero" by the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches for both her service and contributions to the non-profit, residential child-care and family service organization. As a Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service, Patti was instrumental in answering children's letters to Santa and delivering toys for needy children. The National Association of Letter Carriers recognized her efforts and in 1987 awarded her the Humanitarian of the Year Award.
Always involved with city and county government, Patti served on the Oakland Park Board of Adjustment and the Police and Fire Pension Board. She is a Member and past President of The Broward County Commission on the Status of Women and, in addition to other memberships, currently serves on the Tamarac Police Pension Board.
When asked why she chose to run for the city commission seat, the Miami Dolphins fan said, "Being a volunteer for so many years has made me very much aware of how our city and county governments function. And it has made me a terrific liason between different agencies throughout Broward County. As a Tamarac City Commissioner, I can bring my service and knowledge directly to the people to create an open government with accessible elected officials, to make our neighborhoods safer and to plan well for future growth."
